My car lost $1,500 in value for no reason!!!

Checked it last month and it was around $7,200 now it's in the $5,000s?

It seems to be a mistake as it is priced similar to the Gen 1 and not the Gen 2, which is very very different.

The 2003 and 2004 are identical. Actually the 2004 has more transmission problems but that's whatever.

I mean I guess I won't have very much trouble getting what I want for it, there's very few clean low mileage LSs around. This just makes it more difficult to sell.

I enjoy watching how fast the value of my mom's car has dropped since Saturn closed.

The car was ~$25,000 6 years ago, now it's worth $10,000. It's dropped $2,000 since the last time I looked, which wasn't that long ago.

meh, its only semi relevant if you plan on trading it in, otherwise its whatever the local market will bear. My vehicle is listed as $5000 but I know for a fact I could ask $10000 and get it no problem.

What makes me more mad is that KBB seems to mistake my model year for the past generation. NADA is more accurate but people love printing out KBB values and showing you..

Hey, Im curious about the Lincoln LS. Have you got the V8? Or even the V6 Stick?! I am very interested in this car as I think will be one of those that Lincoln will always have as a standout. I like it a lot and could get one for pretty damn cheap. Thanks a lot!

I don't consider KBB to carry much weight these days. I look at prices of completed sales on ebay and asking prices on craigslist.

KBB just recently valued my car at $2.5K.

What alternate universe is this? It's $1.5K tops now. Down from 2.7K about 4 years ago.

I think that's because a lot of people don't know about NADA.

I have a V8. If there's anything you would like to know just ask. Pretty well versed in these.

Do you actually get any fun out of it. Like, does it surprise you with better than expected handling/steering/balance. Or is it just a boat with a nice sounding engine and comfy?

All relative to a 4 door luxury sedan? It's fun. Steering is perfectly weighted and direct, handling is its strongest feature. It's close to a 50/50 weight distribution. Most of the comparisons at the time, the LS won in the handling department even against the Germans.

The most comparable car to this I've driven is a 5 series from this time period. Go out and drive a well cared for genII V8 sport.

Now reliability and cost to own are another thing..

Thats just made it a LOT more tempting. I think it is just SO badass, sort of like a Chrysler 300 that is fit and not chubby. Man, I have to search for a good, black, V8 one with the 90s nav and THX stereo.

But reliability isnt good?? I had no clue about that!

It's horrible for the Gen 1s (00-02). Gen II (03-06) are way way better and that's not saying a lot. 2006 are the best and the only I will recommend. Finding a well taken care of one is the hardest. They all have the same problems and when they aren't cared for it just equals more $$$$$.

What problems do they have? I found a 2006 V8 with 36,000 miles. I NEED IT

KBB is useless. For me they've always shown lower prices than the actual market value. My gen II LS is only worth about $4500 to them. Which is weird because the lowest priced one in my area is $4995 with 30k more miles... Really?!

All coils and plugs need to be replaced around 60,000 miles with OEM parts. Cooling system starts to fail around 80,000, it is all plastic and almost everything needs to be replaced. DCCV fails around 60,000 I guess you could bundle that with the cooling system. Window regulators fail as well, plastic clips. Other than that 06s are pretty reliable. You'll need to replace some suspension parts but they aren't nearly as costly as some other problems they have.

Definitely something I don't trust, but buyers will always swear by it.

All the LSs in my area are either complete junk going for nothing or sort of clean going for too much. Hopefully won't have too much trouble selling mine with less than 100k and a stack of receipts.

Stick only came in the Gen 1s V6, very rare. Not all that appealing to me.

The LS is basically a little stiffer S-Type. Most parts on it have Jaguar's logo.

Even Jaguars with the stick are easier to find. But that V8. Although I was massively dissapointed it cant be revved above 3,000 RPM in Park. Gotta use neutral.

Rev limiter is in neutral as well. A SCT tuner can take it off though. Fun fact, first Gen LS only start in 2nd even using the select shift.

It will only kick down past a certain amount of throttle, something like 50%. It got around some emission bs doing that. Gen 2 didn't require it.

Mine has 145k miles, but is incredibly clean. The problem is that most people compare it to the $3500 1st gen cars. I've owned both and they're not the same at all.
